Default Smokin ACE's 92 1st gen 12 valve cummins, VE pumped.

1992 Black Dodge Ram 250 Cummins Turbo Diesel, Regular Cab, LE package, 4x4

Motor:
-5.9L Cummins 12 valve Turbo Diesel
(stock numbers on valve cover plate, 160hp, 400 ft. lbs torque, 360 CID)
-Bosch 12mm VE rotary fuel pump
-was factory intercooled...

Trans/Drivetrain:
-Stock A518 non lockup auto transmission (3 speed with overdrive) that has been rebuilt once that I know of, I turned the line pressure up, adjusted the bands and tightened the TV cable a few times but thats it.
-Np205 transfer case
-Dana 70 open rear end, Dana 60 front end with 3.54s

Mods:
-VE pump turned up: AFC lever removed=full fuel all the time even at idle (yes it hazes a bit), 4200 rpm governor spring (354 spring), full power screw turned in close to runaway, shaved shut off solenoid, pull cable emergency kill
-timing jumped one tooth
-hotwired KSB
-Prince Of Darkness injectors (4x14s) (40hp injectors they claim)
-AIrdog II 200gph set at 13 psi til I get the front seal of the VE loctited
-3" stainless coolertubz
-ATS Aurora 5000 turbo
-Ported stock manifold (I just took my die grinder to it!)
-ARP Head Studs
-Peak Diesel 60 lb springs
-Custom 6" cold air intake with Amsoil Dry filter with Pre-filter
-4" elbow to 5" hood stack, with many tips to choose from depending on my mood or the weather: short, mitre, tall, flapper, turnout, straight
-Isspro EV2 Electronic 40psi fuel pressure gauge, Isspro EV 5k tach, 100-280 trans temp in custom diamond plate 3 gauge dash pod. 100-1800 pyrometer and 0-60 lbs boost gauge in 2 gauge pillar pod
-Potentiometer (POT) controlled overdrive instead of TPS
-3" Powersroke Intercooler
-bigger tranny cooler with fan mounted under battery tray on an angle
-BD turbo cooldown timer
-Custom ACE grid heater delete
-Custom ACE Fuel sump

Mods planning on in future:
-built 47rh lockup tranny with some goodies: shift kit or valve body, torque converter, billet input
-Head work: ARP studs for now til head gasket blows then ported, polished, O-ringed or Fire Ringed, new gasket (maybe marine)
-6x18 injectors
-ats aurora 5000/3000 twins (got all piping just waitin on studs)
-Water/meth kit
-Dana 80 rear end with Posi maybe?
-and maybe a little more secretive pump work...14mm h&r with a non i/c pump

Tires/Rims/suspension:
-Raceline Renegade 8 16" rims with 285/75R/16 Trail Mark M/S Radial tires.
-stock height but maybe a 4" lift someday...
-custom 66" long 1 1/4" solid round bar traction bars, machined at the ends with 3/4" heims tapped LH and RH so they are adjustable like a tie rod

Sound/Audio:
-Sony stereo/CD/Aux in with diamond plate stereo plate
-Sony 6x9s in the door
-15" sub in big box with 750 watt amp

Other Stuff:
-2.5% tint on back and 20% on sides
-"shadow painted" red grille and other red accents
-lots of stickers
-Diamond plate valve cover plate I made

It has 251,000 miles on it and still runs like a champ! It was stock til 225,000 miles. I have had this truck for about 4 years now and have learned a lot about it and have done all the work on it myself. It was my grandpas truck for the past 100,000 miles and it was his farm truck. He then bought a 99 24 valve and didn’t need this truck anymore so I traded a 91 Nissan truck I had for it and he traded me straight across. It was the best deal I ever made. It’s in really good condition for what its been through bein a farm truck and with this many miles on it. Now running AMSOIL oil and oil filter and love it.

Well i pulled my stock injectors out last week Cuz i was gonna check them out and see if i could tighten the tips and get them to stop leakin and I think its the first time they have ever seen dayight. (240,000 miles and almost 18 years of work)I was breakin some of the paint loose when i was removing them. I pulled them all out and they were kind of a pain to get out, but my injector puller i made, made things much easier! They all looked okay, but weren't the cleanest, then i got thinkin and decided I oughta have them pop tested while i had them out, so i called around and it would cost me $85 to $110 to get them pop tested so i said forget about that. So I figured i'm sure these injectors are well used so what the heck, why not get some new ones. So i decided to give myself an early christmas present and order some new/bigger injectors. So I went fairly cheap for now and bought some Lucas "Prince Of Darkness" injectors and then i plan on gettin some bigger ones once things get more serious. So the injectors came today and i just got done puttin them in. Bled them and the truck fired right up and i took it for a short test run, it definately picks up faster and has more topend, but it runs hotter too, and blows a much bigger flame! I just barely put them in so they still have some testing to do... We'll see how my tranny likes it...

Custom Oval fuel sump you can install without dropping the tank (even though I already had mine dropped) just cut oval hole and slide top flange in sideways then line it up with the gaskets in place and tightened er down with allen heads

Airdog II 200gph with custom fuel sump, also my new 66" long 1 1/4" solid round bar traction bars with machined ends for 3/4" heims reverse threaded for easy adjustment.

new cab lights installed, which are smoked along with the front signals and tail lights

Decided to try truck pullin this summer, so I did it for the first time at the Pulls in Logan, Utah on June 11th. I ran in the 2.6 class with my Aurora 3000 turbo even though its not a full 2.6" inducer. I did all the fab work in one week and got my truck ready to go, stayed up til 2 or later in the morning sometimes but it all paid off and it was a blast.

fabbed up some driveshaft loops, U-joint shields, and my new traction bars.

took bumpers off and made sled stops and a weight bar. Slid hitch ahead 1 hole and put some grade 8 bolts in it. I borrowed a buddy's hitch for this pull but will make a better adjustable one for next time.

the day of the pulls, in pulling attire:

had roughly 1300 lbs hangin on the front right under 60" from centerline of front axle along with probably 500-600 lbs in more secured tractor weights and cement bags in the bed to get me right at 8000 lbs.

Me and 2 of my buddies all pulled at this pull, it was all of our first pulls. All three of these trucks are fummins. My neighbor with the light blue ford has a 215 p pumped 12 valve. His younger brother has the white ford crewcab they just got done putting a 215 p pumped 12 valve in it about a month ago and mated it to the zf6 with a destroked adapter. And one of my friends from logan has the 78 ford crewcab with VE pumped 12 valve in it along with a nv4500. The light blue ford and 78 crewcab ran in the stock class both with HE351 turbos and the white ford didn't run this time since its mostly stock still.

Here is a vid of part of the show with their pulls in the stock class and mine towards the end in the 2.6 class.
My buddy's ford smoked his clutch pretty good and my buddy's ol crewcab pulled too low of gear and his fuel shut off solenoid wire bounced off in the middle of the pull killing the truck. I pulled 270' in 2.6 and took 4th out of 5 trucks. I went up against some strong running common rails with probably twice my hp and then barely edged out the manual p pump truck that ran after me.

heres a vid of my truck from the other side
All in all I was very impressed with my old dodge. I still can't believe everything held together and it went a lot better than I thought especially for still having stock head bolts and a bone stock non lockup auto, not to mention I was the only old dodge there and the only one with a VE pump besides my friends ford. It was a lot of fun and I plan on doing a few more pulls this summer.
